What our volunteers think

Volunteering with Ambassadors of Education opened doors for me to return to the public school system and the school environment with more empathy. The children and teenagers who participated in the project awakened in us hope that the classroom can be a place of transformation and intellectual as well as emotional growth. We volunteers were challenged every day to bring activities, games, dilemmas, debates, and lots of enthusiasm. The courtyard, the cafeteria, the library, the sports courts, even the staircase between floors, became the stage for our encounters, always intertwined with much dialogue, joy, fun, and affection.

Being a Multiplier in the Ambassadors of Education program (YES, YOU READ THAT RIGHT, WE ARE MORE THAN VOLUNTEERS, WE ARE MULTIPLIERS) was an irreplaceable experience that I will cherish and miss for the rest of my life. Seeing that we can be agents of transformation and bring a little hope and knowledge to young people in public schools, thus having the possibility of changing the perspective and outlook on life of each one... PRICELESS! When I think about the program, the first words that come to mind are CONNECTION AND LEARNING, and don't think that it's only our children who learn, the greatest beneficiaries are US.

Contrary to what we often want to believe (sometimes to justify our inaction), there are many people today who dedicate part of their time to helping others. I was looking to make a difference in the lives of children and young people, and while searching the internet I found the Ambassadors of Education project, which aims to reach students in public schools. When I became a facilitator and went to schools to present the project and tell my story, I consequently planted the seed (of possibility) in the life of each student, broadening their often limited horizons. I feel like a lucky girl to have been part of such a beautiful and transformative project as the Ambassadors. Because we transform the lives of these students, but they also transform ours.
